HISTORY

Roots guide us, innovation drives us forward.
Born as Caffè Martinelli and a proud witness to Italian history since 1856, Ragno d'Oro has crossed the ages to become the absolute point of reference north of Bari for those seeking elegance from another era.

It was 1856 when Leonardo Martinelli, in a festive atmosphere, opened the old Caffè Martinelli through which a few years later, in 1860, Garibaldi’s followers would pass with the enthusiastic strength and determination of those writing a chapter of Italian history, bringing prestige and honor to the Café.
From that moment, and for half a century, the café became one of the most important places in Giovinazzo. At Ragno d’Oro there is strong production of artisanal sweets and ice cream, as well as being a reference point for spending pleasant hours immersed in the beauty of its historic and refined furnishings. Entering inside, yesterday as today, means intoxicating the eyes with poetry, letting yourself be enveloped by a retro atmosphere made of warm colors and sinuous lines, wooden furnishings and soft lights. A balm for the soul that flows slowly, like silk through the hands, with a light rustle that speaks of magic. That magic that can only be found in venues that know how to give you an experience outside of time, as if time had stopped and was there, before us, ready to be lived in every single moment.

TODAY AS THEN

Nothing has been lost, but everything has been enriched by a modern vision that at the same time knew how to preserve and enhance the history of the venue, with its furnishings and atmospheres.
Ragno d’Oro as we know it today was born in the 1950s and it was 1981 when the Marzella family took over the venue.
Step by step, walking among vintage tables and upholstered armchairs, you can meet Cesare and Raffaele, the two brothers who manage the venue and who, together with their parents, have inherited the passion and love for this place, bringing innovation and prestige.
With the new management by the Marzella family, the café evolves, looks to the future while holding hands with the past.
Inside it, the Ragno d’Oro bistrot was born, with international and exclusive food and wine offerings, among nineteenth-century chandeliers and an enormous fine wood counter.
