While vines have historically been present in China, wine production began at a much more recent time.


The most important wine regions include Beijing, Yantai, Hebei, Sichuan, Jilin, Shanxi and Ningxia.

The largest is Yantai-Penglai, with over 140 wineries, and 40 percent of the wine produced in China.
